Though Nicola Formicetti’s break from Thierry Mugler was announced yesterday, it seems he’s already making moves with another label.
Page Six is reporting that the designer was spotted hanging out with Diesel founder Renzo Russo during Paris Fashion Week and might be named the brand’s new creative director. Fashionista also noted that the partnership would make sense as Formichetti has worn the brand in the past and even sat front row at the Diesel Black Gold show this past fashion week. Plus Diesel has yet to name a successor after cutting ties with former creative director Bruno Collins back in 2011. So far the company hasn’t confirmed or denied the rumor, only saying “no comment.”
Formichetti took to his Instgram Wednesday morning posting blank images in white, red, and black—all of which are definitely Diesel colors—with captions indicating a new start. This comes after his cryptic Twitter update on April 1st and a series of tweets chronicling his time at Mugler, all of which might allude to him possibly striking out on his own.
After making a name as Lady Gaga’s stylist and reinvigorating Mugler, there’s no telling how far Formichetti will go from here.
